I’m sure you’ve heard it before, if you want to lose weight you have to cut sugar out of your diet. There are a million different reasons why sugar is harmful to the body. It leads to diabetes, weight gain, cardiac issues, dental issues and the list goes on.
But it’s time to sit back and really think about it. Is sugar really the issue? Sugar is a natural ingredient that can be found in almost everything. It is a carbohydrate, which is essential in providing our bodies with energy.
If you were to sit down and make a list of items that contain sugar it would probably look something like this.

All of these items are loaded with sugar. But the problem with this list isn’t the sugar, it’s the process sugar, high fructose corn syrup, gum additives and artificial sweeteners. These are all man made ingredients that are added to our foods, that our body isn’t able to break down and digest properly, which can in return lead to weight gain.
Pure sugar actually has many benefits. Like mentioned earlier, sugar is a carbohydrate which is essential for the body’s energy. Instead of grabbing a soda or a candy bar, try grabbing a simple fruit like a banana, apples, strawberries, grapes, etc. Fruits are loaded with natural sugar, which the body can break down and use for energy.
Sugar isn’t the issue. It’s all the things added to our foods that's causing harm to our body. By sticking to simple sugars, you eliminate a lot of issues foods with process sugar can create.
